There is a culinary revolution going on in Cleveland, Ohio and what is great food without fine wine, especially Italian wine! Downtown Cleveland is now home to a brand new Italian wine distribution company, Tuscany Distributors of Ohio, wine distributor serving the wholesale needs of Cleveland area restaurants. The owner, Margaret Mann, and her husband, Raffaele Scettro, the company's General Manager, are extremely excited to be opening up in Cleveland and are eager to combine their backgrounds and love of Italian food, culture and wine to bring great new Italian wine to the Cleveland area, one of the country's most provocative food towns.
The idea for Tuscany Distributors of Ohio grew from this young couple's shared passion for Italian food and wine. In 2010, Mann became a certified sommelier and Scettro established a rapport with an Italian importer interested in introducing his wine to Ohio. Working with the Tuscany Distributors buying group and Tuscany Imports in Florida, Tuscany Distributors of Ohio is now carrying and 70 exclusive new Italian wines from producers like Ca' Montebello, Decordi and A.A. Boscaini. While wholesale distributors such as Tuscany Distributors of Ohio cannot sell to the general public, they are very excited to establish relationships with the strong Italian American community in Cleveland as well as Cleveland's eclectic food and wine community to promote its unique Italian wine brands and educate Clevelanders to become more avid and knowledgeable wine drinkers through wine tastings, dinners, seminars, and special appearances by Italian winemakers.
While always popular with Italian Americans, Italian wine is now becoming increasingly popular with American wine drinkers. Not only does wine itself pair nicely with local favorites, but Italian wine and food culture is also based on the same principles and values guiding the local food movement here in Cleveland - sustainability in production, local grapes, and the synergy of farmer, soil, and climate.
