Everyone is welcomed to join the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Holy Rosary Parish in Cleveland. This generous event will take place during the weekend of Oct. 7 & 8. Participants are encouraged to join Mass on these days, as well as enjoy a dinner gala set to take place during the weekend.
Founded in 1892, this church was established as a way to welcome Italian immigrants and give them a place to safely worship and honor their faith and heritage. Little Italy was a place of comfort for these immigrants. “It allowed them to worship and practice their faith as the congregation grew,” says Father Joseph Previte, the pastor of the church. “From there, it continued to grow and flourish into what we have today.”
Over the years, a strong and loving community was built around the church and more than a century later, faith teachings and prayers still occur within the gorgeous building located in Little Italy. The anniversary celebration will honor the dedication of the church staff and its parishioners and all are welcome to get involved with the event.
The celebration will be open to all who wish to attend. The weekend ceremony will start with Mass on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m., followed by a small reception afterwards. This day will also host a dinner gala which will be celebrated at the American-Croatian Lodge in Eastlake beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets for this event can be purchased for $50 per person. To buy tickets, contact the Parish to have them mailed or ready to pick up. Sunday, Oct. 8 will have a Solemn Mass at 11 a.m. and a dedication of the new parish center will follow.
The events taking place during this weekend are designed to honor how much effort, love and faith went into building and maintaining this Parish for many years and many more to come. “We’re celebrating our faith, our tradition and it’s really a celebration of the people of the Holy Rosary,” says Father Joseph Previte. “That’s what it’s really about. It’s about all of those who have been a part of the Parish for 125 years.”
