The National Farmers Confederation Coldiretti says the series of recent earthquakes will impact the tourism business. They claim tourists spend 220,000 nights a year in the mountainous zone and the current earthquake devastation has turned off nature and food-loving tourists. A survey indicates that the visitor occupancy rate is virtually at zero and at disastrous expectations for the Christmas holiday season. As many as 26,000 people live in temporary shelters due to the series of recent earthquakes. Though most are living in public buildings, hotels and tents, many are still sleeping in their cars. 

Il terremoto rischia di cancellare le circa 220.000 presenze turistiche che si registrano ogni anno nella zona compresa tra le province di Macerata, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo e Perugia, devastate dal sisma. A lanciare l’allarme è la Coldiretti (Confederazione Nazionale Coltivatori Diretti) sulla base di un rapporto che mostra come l’attività sismica abbia determinato una vera e propria fuga di turisti, disdette delle prenotazioni, presenze praticamente azzerate e previsioni ovviamente disastrose in vista delle festività natalizie. Ben 26.000 residenti sono stati ospitati in strutture temporanee a causa della serie di recenti terremoti. Sebbene la maggior parte viva in edifici pubblici, alberghi e tende, molti stanno ancora trascorrendo la notte in auto.
