Italy elected its first black senator in history. Toni Iwobi, a Nigerian immigrant, is a member of the anti-immigration Lega (League) party. Iwobi was elected in Brescia, Lombardy to the upper house of the country’s parliament. The far-right League became the second-largest party in parliament in Italy’s general election last month. In a Facebook post, Mr. Iwobi said, “After more than 25 years of battles as part of the League’s great family, I am about to start another great adventure!”

L’Italia ha eletto il primo Senatore afroitaliano della sua storia. Toni Iwobi, un immigrato nigeriano, è un membro del partito anti-immigrazione Lega Nord. Iwobi è stato eletto a Brescia, in Lombardia, nel Senato.
