Pope Francis delivered an extraordinary blessing “To the City and to the World” on March 27 to pray for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pope held the special Urbi et Orbi, which is typically reserved only for Christmas and Easter, from the steps of St. Peter’s Basilica to a deserted St. Peter’s Square. In keeping up with the gravity of the current global situation as more than half the world’s population is confined to their homes to prevent the spread of the virus, Pope Francis offered this special blessing to the world through all means of modern communication: Facebook, YouTube, TV, and radio.
Papa Francesco ha impartito una straordinaria benedizione a tutto il mondo il 27 marzo 2020. La sua preghiera era chiamato “Per la città e il mondo”. La sua intenzione era di far finire la pandemia del Corona virus. La benedizione, chiamata “Urbi et Orbi”, è normalmente impartita a Natale e Pasqua dalle scale di San Pietro, anche se non c'era nessun presente ad ascoltare.
