The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) and Aurelio De Laurentiis are pleased to announce the establishment of an annual film production grant program to support aspiring filmmakers who wish to tell compelling stories about Italians and Italian Americans.
Officially known as "The NIAF/Aurelio De Laurentiis Film Prizes," this new collaboration aims to provide critical funding to help bring these stories to life. Each year, through this innovative program, five talented filmmakers will be awarded a $10,000 grant each, enabling them to create their film projects and submit them for review. Documentary, narrative, fiction, and nonfiction formats are all eligible.
The culmination of this cinematic endeavor will take place during the NIAF Gala weekend in Washington, D.C. The five selected films will be screened, and the award-winning filmmaker will be announced during the Gala and not only receive an additional $10,000 prize but also an exclusive mentorship opportunity with Aurelio De Laurentiis and his esteemed team.
"We are thrilled to partner with acclaimed producer and NIAF Board Member Aurelio De Laurentiis to foster new creative work," said NIAF Chairman Robert E. Carlucci. "These prizes will showcase Italian and Italian American stories while nurturing young talent."
"As a lifelong film producer, supporting the next generation of filmmakers is my passion," said Aurelio De Laurentiis. "I look forward to seeing the fantastic submissions these prizes will uncover."
This collaboration between NIAF and Aurelio De Laurentiis exemplifies a shared commitment to fostering cinematic talent and celebrating the richness of Italian culture through captivating storytelling.
The film prize program is open to all aspiring filmmakers from around the world of any nationality and age. The program is not limited to film students. Full guidelines and submission details are available at www.niaf.org/film.
