While many travel from all over the world to visit Italy’s breathtaking Tuscan region, Italian tourists, themselves, also choose Tuscany as a top vacation spot. Recent studies conducted by Pragma, a market research company, reveal that 14.4 percent of Italian tourists holidayed in Tuscany this summer. Beach towns are the main draw for Italians with 38 percent of Italian tourists relaxing in the sand while the towns and cities of Tuscany are popular with 25 percent of vacationing Italians. Alberto Perruzzini, director of Toscana Promozione Turistica, stated at a recent convention that Tuscany attracts Italian tourists particularly from Lombardy, Piedmont and Lazio. Where do Italians opt to stay while on a Tuscan holiday? Bed & Breakfasts host 27 percent of travelers while only 24 percent choose hotels. Farmhouse accommodations prove popular with 19 percent, followed closely by private home rentals for 18 percent of vacationers. Tuscany’s diverse landscape - from beaches to world-famous museums to vineyards and wineries - proves the region offers a perfect holiday for anyone.
