As we bid arrivederci to the scorching summer and brace ourselves for the upcoming bitter cold season, it's the perfect time to analyze the fall/winter trends on the horizon and grasp what exactly will be in store for us and hopefully hanging in our closets. This is a great occasion to update your wardrobe and consider the key pieces you will need in order to keep yourself "alla moda" this season. The runway shows from Milan, Paris, New York and London offered a wide range of options as they sparked a return to unquestionably chic, feminine dressing. So grab a creamy cappuccino and sip away as I highlight the trends this season.
The Mod Squad
A prominent trend off the catwalk this upcoming fall is mod. Inspired by the late 60s, we'll be seeing exuberant, geometric prints along with Peter Pan collars, shift dresses, tunics and double-breasted peacoats all mixed with bright colors. Prada, Alberta Ferretti, Versace and Bottega Veneta, were just some of the designers who gave a nod to the sixties silhouettes. The result was a phenomenal group of simple shapes that had a youthful spirit, perfect for any woman in search of easy clothes that will make her look good without standing out.
Technicolor Dreamcoat
Speaking of bright colors, that brings me to another trend of the season, color. The bright colors of the spring/summer color blocking trend that dominated last season were carried over to fall. Coats, pants and dresses alike are ever so bright this season. From a tomato red coat seen at Proenza Schouler, a bright orange coat at Celine and a deep violet dress at Yves Saint Laurent, colors are taking a bold twist to the usual burgundy, evergreen and espresso hues that we usually see this time of the year.
Seeing Spots
In the midst of all the prints found in the collections this fall, the MVP (Most Valuable Print) is the beloved polka dot. This Dalmatian like print showed up on retro dresses, blouses, hats and even hosiery. Polka dots are a classic print for anyone to have in their wardrobe from subtle accessories to horror vacui day and evening looks. They were especially prevalent in the runway collections of Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney, where these designers took the haute spot to a whole different level.
Mighty Python
This season you might want to be bitten and I don't mean by mosquitoes! Python is having a huge comeback this season and not only in handbags and shoes, but we saw a softer side of snakeskin on the Paris and Milan runways. From a rosy top at Dior to a silky green skirt at Chloé, the material looked almost sweet. Prada also had an exotic moment in the form of a lime green fur-trimmed trench.
White Swan
But if all this talk of geometric prints, bright colors, polka dots and python has given you a headache, the fall/winter season has the perfect trend for you, white. Everything from outerwear to daywear to evening dresses, this season gave a whole new definition to the term "winter white". One thing is certain; it is no longer prohibited after Labor Day. A pair of white palazzo pants paired with a white ostrich feather jacket made its way down the runway at Yves Saint Laurent, an accent white cape at Chloé and white on white looks from head to toe at Hermès. If total white is not your cup of cappuccino, try just adding a simple white turtleneck to any look, whether it be tucked into a pair of high waisted pants and under coats and blazers like at Celine or layered under a summery sleeveless dress like at the BCBG runway show. Believe it or not, white turtlenecks showed up on many catwalks worldwide and are considered as one of the must have pieces of the season.

Mentre salutiamo l' estate torrida e ci prepariamo per il freddo rigido dell' inverno, analizziamo le tendenze sul fronte della stagione autunno/inverno per vedere cosa troveremo nei negozi, sperando di vederle appese nei nostri armadi. Questa è una buona occasione per aggiornare il tuo guardaroba e considerare i pezzi chiave di cui avrai bisogno per mantenerti alla moda questa stagione. Le sfilate di Milano, Parigi, New York e Londra hanno offerto una vasta varietà di opzioni che hanno suscitato il ritorno di uno stile, senza dubbio, chic e femminile. Allora, prendi un cappuccino cremoso e mentri te lo godi, ti presento le tendenze di questa stagione.
La Squadra Mod
Una tendenza principale, direttamente dalle passarelle per questo prossimo autunno, è il "mod". Ispirato agli ultimi anni â60, si vedono esuberanti stampe geometriche insieme a coletti ispirati a Peter Pan, abiti a trapezio, tuniche, e cappottini a doppio petto, tutti abbinati a colori vivaci. Prada, Alberta Ferretti, Versace e Bottega Veneta, sono alcuni degli stilisti che hanno reso omaggio alle silouette degli anni â60. Il risultato è stato un gruppo fenomenale di forme semplici, giovanili, perfette per qualsiasi donna in cerca di vestiti facili che la rendano bella senza spiccare troppo.
Cappotto Colorato
Parlando di colori vivaci, ciò mi porta ad un' altra tendenza della stagione, il colore. I colori brillanti della primavera/estate, il "color blocking", ci accompagna anche nella stagione autunnale. Cappotti, pantaloni e vestiti ugualmente sono splendenti in questa stagione. Dal cappotto rosso pomodoro, visto nella sfilata di Proenza Schouler, si passa ad un cappotto arancione di Celine e ad un abito di colore viola intenso di Yves Saint Laurent. I colori stanno prendendo una svolta audace dalle solite tinte di bordeaux, verde e marrone a cui eravamo abituati di vedere durante questo periodo dell'anno.
Pois Alternativo
In mezzo a tutte le stampe che troviamo nelle collezioni di questa stagione, l' MVP (Most Valuable Print ovvero la stampa più preggiata), è l' amato pois. Questa stampa Dalmata è ovunque da abiti retro, bluse, cappelli e calze. Il pois è una stampa classica che chiunque può avere nel loro guardaroba, dagli accessori delicati agli abiti di giorno e di sera e il tutto coperto con questa stampa. Il pois è specialmente prevalente nelle collezioni da passarella di Marc Jacobs e Stella McCartney, stilisti che hanno portato il pois classico su altri livelli.
Il Potente Pitone
In questa stagione forse vorrai essere punta e non intendo dalle zanzare! Il pitone sta avendo un grande ritorno e non soltanto nelle borse e scarpe, ma anche in altri capi più morbidi sulle passarelle di Parigi e Milano. Da una blusa rosata di Dior, ad una gonna verde di seta di Chloé, la stampa diventa delicata. Prada ha sfilato anche un momento esotico nella forma di un impermeabile verde tiglio con un bordo in pelliccia.
Il Cigno Bianco
Però, se tutto questo parlare di stampe geometriche, colori vivaci, pois e pitone ti ha dato mal di testa, la stagione autunno/inverno ha la tendenza perfetta per te, il bianco. Tutto da soprabiti a vestiti di giorno e abiti da sera, questa stagione ha dato una definizione nuova al termine "bianco d' inverno". Una cosa è certa; non è più proibito dopo Labor Day! Un paio di pantaloni palazzo bianchi con una giacca di piume di struzzo ha sfilato a Yves Saint Laurent, una cappa bianca da Chloé e look di bianco su bianco da capo a piedi da Hermès. Però se non ti senti al tuo agio con un look completamente in bianco, prova ad indossare un semplice dolcevita bianco con qualsiasi look. Potresti metterlo con un paio di pantaloni vita alta e sotto giacche e cappotto come da Celine o anche sotto un vestito estivo come dalla sfilata di BCBG. Che ci creda o no, il dolcevita bianco si è visto su tante passarelle del mondo ed è considerato un pezzo indispensabile della stagione.
