Local Events: Italian Opera for Christmas

Metropolitan Museum of Design Detroit

Dec. 13, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Italy is the birthplace of opera and continues to play a dominant role in the genre. For our Christmas Concert, thanks to a collaboration with the Detroit Opera House, the Consulate of Italy in Detroit together with the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan will have the very talented Resident Artists of the DOH performing some of the most known arias from world renowned Italian composers. What an incredible Christmas send off then with wonderful opera, delicious libations and a cup of good cheer.

The Resident Artists performing, whom you might have seen recently in La Traviata at the Detroit Opera House, are: Tenor River Guard, (with the role of Gastone in Traviata, and with the upcoming role at the Florentine Opera: Summer Studio Ensemble Artist); Soprano Brianna J. Robinson (Annina in Traviata, covering also for Violetta, and featured soloist in upcoming performances at both Boston Lyric Opera and Boston Landmarks Opera); Baritone Cole Bellamy (the role of Baron in Traviata and with upcoming roles in the Santa Fe Opera); and Mezzo-soprano Kendra Faith Beasley (role of Flora in Traviata, and upcoming performances at the Des Moines Metro Opera).
