As of press time, Italy was on lockdown as thousands of new cases of coronavirus emerged overseas. Schools were closed on Thursday, March 5 across the country and remained closed for the following 10 days. Fans were banned from attending sporting events after more than 3,000 cases of coronavirus were confirmed. At press time, the virus had caused 107 deaths in Italy. Cinemas, theatres and events with a large concentration of people were also proposed to be closed. Italy’s government also published a decree with recommended practices to help stop the spread of the virus that included an end to kissing and hugging your friends and a recommendation that all people over the age of 75 should stay in their homes. They also recommend keeping a distance of “at least one metre” from others at all times and a rule on hospital visitation.

Il governo italiano ha pubblicato un decreto con le racommazioni practiche per controbattere la diffusione del virus e questo decreto ha incluso anche uno stop ai baci e gli abbracci tra amici. Il Decreto suggerisce che le persone sopra i 75 anni restino a casa. Hanno consigliato di mantenere una distanza di almeno un metro dalle altre persone. Hanno anche limitato le visite agli ospedali.
