In March, Venice announced a ban on large vessels, including cruise ships and shipping containers, following concerns from residents over pollution and underwater erosion of the city's foundations. The ban will only come into effect once new terminals are built to allow for new routes around the city center. In early June, The MSC Orchestra arrived in Venice to pick up about 650 passengers for a Mediterranean voyage. All the passengers had to produce negative Covid tests before they were allowed to board. Some residents took to boats and lined up in the streets to protest as the first post-Covid cruise ship left the city. Other residents welcomed the return of the tourist season, and the jobs it will bring.

A marzo, Venezia ha dichiarato un divieto sulle grandi navi. Il divieto include le navi da crociera e quelle di trasporto. Siccome Venezia già ha dei problemi con l’inquinamento e l’erosione sott'acqua, queste navi potrebbero aumentare questa situazione. Il divieto inizierà quando i porti nuovi con nuovi percorsi apriranno. Questo mese, la nave MSC Orchestra e’ arrivato a Venezia per prendere quasi 650 passeggeri per una crociera sul Mare Mederiterraneo. I passeggeri hanno dovuto presentare i test negativi per il coronavirus per salire a bordo. Per protestare, molti veneziani si sono messi sulle strade ed i canali fin quando la nave ha lasciato il porto. Sull’altro fronte, c’erano dei residenti felici perché questa crociera significa che la pandemia sta finendo e il turismo sta riaprendo.
