February is the birth month to some of our favorite Italians. Italian American actor Joe Pesci best known for his roles in “My Cousin Vinny,” “Home Alone” and “Goodfellas,” among other notable films, was born on Feb. 9 in Newark, NJ. His father’s family was from Turin. One of the most famous names in science, Galileo Galilei (Feb. 15, 1564) is also celebrated this month. This year would mark his 454th birthday. Enrico Caruso (Feb. 25, 1873 – Aug. 2, 1921) was an Italian tenor from Naples who sang to great acclaim at the major opera houses of Europe and North and South America. Italian-Australian actress Greta Scacchi celebrates her birthday on Feb. 18. Born in Milan, the award-winning actress’ most notable credits include “White Mischief,” “Presumed Innocent,” “The Player,” and “Looking for Alibrandi” along with her Emmy win for the TV film “Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny.”
