In its inaugural year, Ciao! Cleveland took over the East Bank of the Flats and did it like any Italian festival would: with flare, food and fun! Kicking off Italian Heritage month, Ciao! Cleveland and its presenting sponsor, NOIA, brought Clevelanders a celebration of all things Italian. Vendor tents with local artists, delicious Italian fare, Italian apparel, and other Italian goods lined the bricked path on Cleveland’s riverfront. Festival attendees enjoyed pizza, wine and bakery goods on the steps along the Cuyahoga River. The younger generation was all smiles while a balloon artist created anything their hearts desired and a face painter painted beautiful designs on their happy faces. At the event’s entrance, Fiat and Alfa Romeo showcased their latest models.
The Medical Mutual Demonstration Tent was also a big hit. Anthony Quagliata of Artisan Anthony’s showed onlookers how he creates his tasty dishes and A.J. Petitti of Petitti Garden Centers spoke to the crowd about his gardening expertise. Others took the stage as well, all excited to share their knowledge with onlookers.
Throughout the day, live entertainment from The Avanti Band to the SPAZMATICS took the stage while the crowd danced, sang along and enjoyed the music. “This year’s Ciao! Cleveland was an amazing experience. We were thrilled with the turnout. Perfect weather just added to the overall enjoyment of the event,” Dominic Spitalieri, event organizer, said. “We would love to make Ciao! Cleveland a permanent kick-off to Italian Heritage Month!”
